Dave Weaver Scholarship

This scholarship is for that parent(s) who works in the flagstone, fieldstone, & bluestone industry with a graduating senior(s) from high school.  For those wishing to apply for this scholarship must meeting the following criteria.

  1. 1. Any parent(s) owning, working for or working in a flagstone, fieldstone, or bluestone quarry, processing plant, or distribution yard, including office personnel and truck drivers, with a graduating son(s) or daughter(s) who continue their education immediately after high school.
  2. 2. Regardless of your grade point average you can apply.  Grades are not evaluated in regards to the awardee, except in the event of a tie.
  3. 3. There is no preference in regards to the institution the applicant plans on attending after graduation, meaning it can be to a tech school, beauty school, trade school, college or university.
  4. 4. Applicants do not have to be members of the Pennsylvania Bluestone Association to apply for the scholarship, but it will affect your overall score.  PBA members receive 10% while those working for a company that is a PBA member will receive 5%, and those not members receive 0% for this category.

The method of awarding the recipient of the scholarship will be based on the following criteria:

  1. 1. Student needs                    30%
  2. 2. Student Activities              10%
  3. 3. High School Attendance   10%
  4. 4. PBA Membership             10%

Note: Grades, school attending, and student essay will automatically receive 10% for each category.  They will only be evaluated in the event of a tie.

Applications can be obtained through the school guidance counselor, from the PBA website, or through a request to the Pennsylvania Bluestone Association.

The scholarship dollar amount will be established on a yearly basis and will be voted on by the PBA Board of Directors.

The money the recipient is awarded will be directly given to the institution he or she is attending to pay for their books, tuition, or any other expenses they may have at the college.

If for some reason the recipient of the scholarship decides not to further their education after high school, the scholarship will then be awarded to the runner-up.
